Taekwondo Training Timer

This taekwondo training timer keeps your session structured from the first round to the last. Set a work interval, a rest period and the number of rounds, then let the timer handle the counting while you focus on your taekwondo drills. It works for sparring, kicking combinations, pad work and conditioning, and it suits interval training just as well. Because every round and every rest period is identical, your effort stays consistent across the session instead of drifting when you lose track of time.

How to Use the Taekwondo Timer

1

Set your round time

Choose how long each training round should last.

2

Set your rest time

Add a recovery period between rounds.

3

Choose the number of rounds

Set the total number of rounds for your session.

4

Start training

Press start and follow the timer through your entire session.

Taekwondo Round Timer

Use it as a taekwondo round timer when you train in blocks rather than by repetitions. Pick your round duration, add a rest period between rounds, and run multiple rounds back to back for sparring sessions or technical work. An audio signal marks the start and the end of each round, so you never have to look at a clock.

The same setup works for any round-based session — see the Combat Sports Timer for a general version of the same tool.

Taekwondo Sparring Timer

As a taekwondo sparring timer, it structures sparring rounds, technical sparring and partner drills with a fixed rest period in between. Set the round length you train with, choose how many rounds you want, and rotate partners on the signal instead of stopping to check the time.

Taekwondo Interval Training

Interval training fits naturally into taekwondo. Alternate short work and rest intervals for conditioning, footwork drills, kicking drills or cardio training, and keep the ratio the same from one interval to the next. Shorter work periods with a quick recovery raise the intensity; longer ones build capacity.

For general interval work, use the Interval Timer or the HIIT Timer.

Taekwondo Timer for Training and Drills

The timer simply counts your work and rest intervals — you decide what happens inside each round.

Kicking drills

Run timed rounds of kicking repetitions instead of counting reps.

Footwork drills

Set short intervals for movement, stance changes and distance work.

Speed drills

Use brief work periods with a full recovery between them.

Conditioning

Chain intense intervals together with a short rest period.

Bag and pad work

Time each round on the bag or with a partner holding pads.

Technique repetitions

Give every technique the same amount of time in the session.

Sparring

Keep sparring rounds and rest periods identical for everyone.

Warm-up

Use the Prep setting to add a countdown before the first round starts.

Taekwondo Timer FAQ

World Taekwondo round times, and the formats used by eight other combat sports, are collected in our guide to round lengths in combat sports.

What is a taekwondo timer?

A taekwondo timer is a round timer for taekwondo training: it counts a work interval for sparring, kicking drills or paddle work, then a rest period, and repeats. World Taekwondo contests are decided over two-minute rounds with one minute of rest, so training rounds are usually built on the same unit.

How long should a taekwondo training round be?

World Taekwondo matches use two-minute rounds with one minute of rest, in a best-of-three format, and most clubs follow that for sparring. Kicking drills and paddle work run shorter — one-minute blocks with about thirty seconds of rest keep the output high enough to be worth doing.

Can I use this timer for taekwondo sparring?

Yes, and matching the ruleset is worth doing: two minutes of work, one minute of rest, three rounds, exactly as a competition match runs. For conditioning rather than tactics, keep the two-minute round and cut the rest to thirty seconds.

Can I set custom work and rest intervals?

Yes. Round duration, rest duration, the number of rounds and sets, the preparation countdown and the cool-down are all adjustable, and they stay set for the rest of the session. Competition round times for taekwondo and eight other disciplines are collected in our guide to round lengths in combat sports.

Is the taekwondo timer free?

Yes. The taekwondo timer is free and runs directly in your browser, with no account and no download. Fullscreen mode makes it readable across a training hall.
